While such industries tend to bring in revenue near operating costs, such as in cargo transport (used to subsidize local manufacturers attempting to expand to other nations), in some cases industrial profits are used in place of taxes, as is the case in providing materials to manufacturers. Farming, fishing, and agriculture are a sector of decreasing economic importance, with a greater share of foods imported from elsewhere in the archipelago.

			Despite the nationalization and appropriation of the industries of the [[Six Families]], the nation's aristocracy, following the [[La Denunzia]], a popular revolt against them, the subsequent liberalization of the Rossan economy has seen the return of a degree of their capital. Through several years of buyouts of their competitors, the Families remain major owners across essentially all industries. In addition, the role of the state in the market has greatly increased since the revolt, leading to significant involvement across many industries with high barriers of entry, in efforts to keep them competitive.
