The government of the Kingdom of Tietero operates under a framework largely established by the [[Government Reorganization Act of 40 PC]], which builds upon centuries of treaties and agreements between the [[Tietero Royal Family|Royal Family]], the [[Cantons of Tietero|cantoral governments]], and the people. 

Tietero is a Parliamentary Monarchy, with a government structure divided into three primary branches: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. The Executive is led by the reigning monarch and includes a cabinet of department heads, while the Legislative branch is represented by a bicameral Parliament consisting of the [[Tieteran Senate|Senate]] and the [[Tieteran House of Commons|House of Commons]]. The Judicial branch operates a hierarchical court system to interpret and enforce the law.

== Executive ==
The Executive is headed by the current monarch, a hereditary position passed to the first-born legal child of the monarch upon their death. The executive branch is further divided into departments, each led by a secretary who is also a member of the monarch’s advisory cabinet. Secretaries are appointed by the monarch and must be confirmed by Parliament, serving terms of five years.

In addition, the advisory cabinet includes the First Secretary, who is elected nationally by majority vote and can serve a maximum of two five-year terms. The First Secretary serves as the head of the cabinet, the second-highest officer in the Executive after the monarch, and leader of the Senate.

The [[Ministry of Defense]] ensures national security and defense. Its responsibilities include overseeing military forces, defense strategy, national security policies, intelligence operations, border protection, and defense research and development. 

=== Education ===
The [[Department of Education]] oversees the educational system and policies, including curriculum development, educational standards, student welfare, and educational research and innovation. It is also responsible for managing aquariums, zoos, and museums. The direct overseeing of primary, secondary, and higher education is managed at the canton level.

=== Environment ===
The [[Environment Agency]] focuses on environmental protection and natural resource management. Responsibilities include environmental conservation, pollution control, climate change policies, wildlife protection, natural resource management, and promoting sustainable practices.

=== Finance and Economy ===
The [[Financial Markets Bureau]] manages the country's financial resources and economic policies. Its responsibilities include budget preparation, taxation, public expenditure, economic planning, financial regulation, monetary policy, and fostering economic growth.

=== Foreign Affairs ===
The [[Foreign Affairs Office]] handles the country’s international relations and foreign policy. Responsibilities include diplomatic relations, international cooperation, foreign trade, consular services, treaty negotiations, and promoting national interests abroad.

=== Health and Social Services ===
The [[Ministry of Wellness]] oversees public health and welfare programs. Responsibilities include healthcare services, disease prevention, public health initiatives, social security, welfare programs, child and family services, and support for the elderly and disabled.

=== Infrastructure ===

Responsibilities include transportation networks (roads, railways, ports, airports), public buildings, electric grid, urban development, and infrastructure planning and funding. All utilities besides electric are managed at the canton level but are supervised by the Tietero Utility Organization.

The [[Department of State]] focuses on domestic governance and administrative functions. It supervises civil service management, electoral processes, local government coordination, national identity and registration services, and general administrative support for other government departments.

== Legislative ==
The Legislative branch is composed of the [[Tieteran Parliament]], which is divided into the Senate and the House of Commons.

The Senate is composed of four members appointed by each of the eight cantonal governments, totaling 32 seats, and is led by the First Secretary. Senators do not have fixed term lengths or term limits, and they may resign or be replaced by their respective canton at any time.

=== House of Commons ===
The House of Commons allocates seats to cantons based on the Huntington-Hill method, with a total number of seats equating to one for every 6,250 people in the national population, rounded to the nearest 1/10th of a million. Members are elected in canton-wide, party-list proportional representation elections held every five years and can serve a maximum of five terms. 

The House of Commons also holds the sole authority to impeach any appointed or elected officials at the federal level, with the process initiated either independently or at the request of the monarch.

The judicial system is structured into a hierarchical framework comprising the Supreme Court, Cantonal Courts, and Local Courts with additional specialized courts handling specific legal matters, and an appellate process allowing for structured review from lower to higher courts.

=== Supreme Court ===
The [[Supreme Court of Tietero|Supreme Court]], the highest judicial authority, consists of a Chief Justice and six Associate Justices. Justices are appointed by the monarch upon the recommendation of an independent judicial commission and confirmed by Parliament. They serve until reaching a mandatory retirement age of 65 or choosing to resign. The Supreme Court's primary function is to serve as the final appellate court, reviewing decisions from lower courts and interpreting constitutional matters. It ensures that legal interpretations and applications remain consistent and in alignment with the nation's constitution and legal precedents.

Cantonal Courts address serious criminal cases, significant civil disputes, and appeals from Local Courts. Operating at the regional level, each canton has its own court staffed by multiple judges. These judges are appointed by the cantonal government and confirmed by a cantonal judicial committee, serving renewable ten-year terms.

Local Courts serve the judicial needs of individual towns or districts, dealing with minor criminal cases, small civil disputes, family law issues, and other everyday legal matters. Judges in Local Courts are appointed by local councils or mayors and confirmed by a local judicial board, serving renewable five-year terms.

City and local governments operate under the direction of the cantonal government, featuring an elected council and a mayor or commissioner who manages local administration. They implement cantonal policies while managing some utilities and providing essential public services, such as waste management, water supply, and local policing, to address the specific needs of their communities.
