The '''Modhesian Army''' is a defunct terrorist group in [[T'vaqi]] formerly composed of copper, coal, and silicon miners deemed too [[Cognitive Capacity Scale|unintelligent]] to receive a higher education. The group's name was chosen to signal allyship with [[Modhes Temple]]; in reality, very few individuals of [[Deysachin|Deysachni]] origin are members of the group.
== History ==
Following the [[Silicon Rebellion|nationwide miner strike]] of [[54 PC]], migrant workers were exported from Deysachin to supply cheap labor and prevent further decline in the T'vaqi economy. Native protestors responded with acts of violence towards these workers, prompting Deysachin to send an army regiment to protect them. Diplomats were covertly included among Deysachni soldiers in the hopes of facilitating negotiation with the protestors. The negotiations were successful, and migrant worker deaths greatly decreased; a fringe group of protestors turned their attention towards civilians, proclaiming their allegiance to Modhes Temple. This group would form the Modhesian Army.

The Army experienced the height of their danger and influence in mid-54 PC, having caused an estimated 3,400 civilian casualties. The group is also responsible for the assault on Senior Magister [[Aso Vinshasi]], resulting in critical injury and his eventual death. The Modhesian Army was the main cause for the disappearance and subsequent death of Grand Magister [[Sirra Voti]], though it is unknown whether he was assassinated or [[suicide|ended his own life]].

In late 54 PC, [[Kalam]] sent a deployment of [[Sultar Militant Clan|Sultar]] and [[Kalam#Government|Qayun]] to T'vaqi with the goal of eliminating the threat posed by the Modhesian Army. This proved highly effective in keeping the group at bay, and the last major attack from the Army for years would involve a failed assassination attempt on Grand Magister [[Arav Ila]]. By [[55 PC]], the group was reclassified to a low-level threat, and very few members of the group remain. Witnessing the success of the Qayun officers prompted Grand Magister [[Insi Q'so]] to begin the development of a T'vaqi military regiment.

The Modhesian Army, though thought to be fully subdued, would nonetheless return in full force during the [[Tricade War]]. After the [[YBS Mukutlali]] issued radio statements advertising a hefty reward in [[Dru'ul]] for the heads of elevated T'vaqi citizens, the Modhesian Army carried out its first terror attack in eleven years. Magister [[Arqo Toq]], the Main Executive of the [[Qoqo]] candy company, was killed and decapitated; his head was successfully traded for the Dru'ul reward. Subsequent attacks from the Army included the capsize of several [[T'vaqi Coastal Patrol]] vessels, and the hijacking of many others. After an attack from the Army on a [[Mholos]] bank, assistance was accepted from [[Wälstanland]] in the form of agents from the island's [[Wälstanland State Police Union|State Police Union]]. Wälsten agents would help establish the [[Threat Prevention Agency]] (TPA), an intelligence agency dedicated to the mitigation of domestic terrorism. The effect of the TPA on Modhesian Army attacks was swift, and many attempted acts of terrorism (including a planned collapse of [[Tomo Tower]]) were successfully prevented by the organization. Nonetheless, the Modhesian Army remained a highly unpredictable force against T'vaqi throughout the war.

The Modhesian Army was subdued for the second time on its own accord. As conditions of the Lambent Concordat treaty that ended the Tricade War, legal recognition of the [[Modhes]] faith was established in T'vaqi, and the [[Viqho]] area was ceded to Deysachin. This resulted in flocks of Modhes civilians moving to Viqho, including most members of the Modhesian Army. No attacks have occurred since this migration, and the group is now considered defunct.

Despite the several flaws in its structure, the group managed to establish themselves as a serious threat to T'vaqi in the 50s due to the nation's lack of a military at the time. During its second wave of activity, the Modhesian Army was able to successfully capitalize on the nationwide war frenzy. Members of the Army identify each other using the group's official symbol, which is typically displayed in a subtle but visible spot on one's person. A member can gain status within the group by attacking, killing, or otherwise impeding the actions of government officials and loyal civilians.
