Steamworks is an island nation in the northern Brchipelago populated by sapient machines.

History

Around 100 TT bio-humanoids started making automatons, as the nation was rich in mineable resources but scare in food. As they progressed and made better automatons, less bulky and able to do more general work, they reach a point where the machines they were building were a bit bigger than them, they also found a black and sticky liquid to help power these smaller machines. Never could they have foreseen the what would happen in 50 TT, what started as a small spark soon became a disaster for the creators of the automatons, when the dust settled the bio-humanoids were purged and only the machines were left, they started to rebuild, they thought and finally formed the Steamworks, an oligarchy with a council of elders that survived the longest through The Purge.

Government

The Council of Steamworks is run by the oldest of the automatons, their rule can be challenged by trial of combat but otherwise they hold the power over what the nation's course should be.

Military

The Steel legion is the main army of the steamworks, the automatons within were designed for fighting in war, making them unable to do more delicate tasks. They also handle what a police force would do during times of peace.

The Hammer are mostly responsible for building forts and bunkers needed for war, along with the repair of their fellow machines.

The Rust Bucket were a division that tried and failed to explore the waters until the Second Calming.

Society

The automatons are located across the country, require very little space to live in so they can afford to live in very compact units across the nation. As the machines don’t need much room to live and making coins out of metal seemed like a waste to them, this nation insteads provide oil for its civilian in exchange for them working in assigned districts.

Laws

Slavery is an offense that one would be subject to one of two punishments, trial by combat or dismantled. Murder of fellow machine would lead to a trial by combat that, if won, would lead to freedom, but if lost, would result in dismantling. Theives were forced to work in the Rust Bucket division. if caught telling information to outsiders, the punishment is execution via being melted down.

Geography

All of Steamworks is in effect a single sprawling city, seperated into districts.

Mining district east and west: 10 million for both sides

Oil Rigs: 5 million

Logging distinct: 2 million

City of Gears: 3 million
