The Nautical Adventures of Vincenzo Barozzo
Dear Vincenzo was a Dux, happy and good,
and the country was rich with plenty of food!
But not everyone liked what the Dux had brought,
and so of a treacherous plan they had thought!
Antonio thought the land poor should stay,
so that a claim on the throne he could lay!
Vincenzo fought with all that he could,
but the liar convinced the people that leave he should!
But in moments he thought his last,
Antonio's brain had a blast!
As he fell dead to the ground, Vincenzo knew,
"This is a sign, my land I must renew!"
But the plot was bigger than he expected,
and out of the palace he was ejected!
Vincenzo, the traitors said, had thus lost face,
Bartolomeo was put in his place!
Bartolomeo had support from a Modhesian plot,
but Vincenzo thought of a friend who'd help him a lot!
With the Hapshawl king, he humbly awaited
until the threat at home abated!
But to Hapshaw the plot had spread,
and so to the Ocean Vincenzo boldly fled!
With his crew loyal he took a vow,
that to the traitors he would never bow!
When he was ready, he would return,
but for now to the East he would turn!
Across islands of copper, silver and gold,
places of which he had only been told!
Covered in fruits with phenomenal tastes,
and daily feasts of hams and pastes!
To lands wealthy like no one has seen,
an island so rich every lady's a queen!
One of them thought his love she'd get,
but his true love he has already met!
To La Rossa his thoughts always went,
so much to him it had meant!
Against Bartolomeo he would scheme,
every day of toppling him he would dream!
But he could not yet return to land!
Not without a merry band!
To make his crew bigger he would need
to find more people he would lead!
And so off he went to find a crew,
to strange lands where folks are blue!
Where men are like giants tall,
where people like bugs are small!
Where people hide in the underground,
where flying in the air they're found!
Where people feast on an empty dish,
a land where they breathe like fish!
And so he gathered men!
Enough to fill fleets ten!
They were ready to go back!
The false Dux he would sack!
The travel was long and tough,
and being frank he was feeling rough!
By the time they reached the shore,
even breathing felt a chore!
Against the traitor's guards they would fail,
and they would promise to put them in jail!
But Vincenzo was smart and slick,
an escape he would make very quick!
To the traitor's palace he would sneak,
through every window he would peek!
Though he had been taken from his herd,
he would still show him what he deserved!
Climbing in he made a plan!
He would hit him with a pan!
But Bartolomeo's skull was thick!
It was solid like a brick!
The traitor would beat him dead!
Like a beast he only saw red!
Vincenzo's end turned out bad!
But this should not make us sad!
Vincenzo did many good things!
Years later his legacy rings!
They cannot win, they are too late
if he is remembered as great!
