Azzta

History

The origin of Azzta and the religion around Azzta starts in 5-1-1010 TT and is told as a group of Utlian explorers finding a group of dead coconut crabs in a small crater. This leads the explorers to believe these crabs saved the island from a great danger. These explorers then went back to their camps and told their tribes of their discovery, causing the religion to spread throughout the small Utlian communities. As permanent settlements became the norm on the island, Azzta's influence grew and became the dominant religion of the island.

Holidays and traditions

Azztans Merriment - An ancient holiday celebrating Azzta. Participants gather at a family member's home and feast on crab and beef, after feasting it is customary to give your family members a gift. During Azztans Merriment people will decorate their homes with crab-themed decorations to show their support for the god.

Effigy of Sin Day - an ancient practice where during the day participants will make little crabs out of wood. Then they find somewhere private and confess their sins to the little wooden crab. During dusk friends and family gather to burn all their crabs together. In modern times the government has begun its ceremony, where the ruler and government workers burn a giant crab in the capital. This is televised and people will generally burn their little crabs not long after the televised ceremony is complete.
