The right of blood is an old Karinian principle which entitles a claimant to challenge an inheritance.
The practice
The right of blood could be called on at Karinian funeral ceremonies, which traditionally took place three days after the deceased's death. It could only be called on by a relative of the deceased (not necessarily a blood relative). The claimant to the right of blood would inform the would-be inheritor of his claim. The inheritor could then recognise the claim, forfeiting the inheritance, or could engage in a dual. The dual was either to the death or until one side admitted defeat. The winner of the dual inherited the property or title in question.
In modern times
The usage of the right of blood has declined over the years, with it mostly still being used in a few Kadrikes and only for inheritance of the leadership of the Kadrikes.
