Brenjia was the most populous state of the Greater Nayela Union, until it became a protectorate of Utlia after the Battle of Brenji. Its most populous city is Brenji. After a 42 PC referendum it became an incorporated province of the Republic of Utlia.

As part of the First Great Attu War, Utlia launched missiles at the city of Brenji, causing a fire, thousands of casualties, and the death of President Iricha Fambraj. Following the battle, Prias Jerifram-Aca made an unpopular decision to make Brenjia a protectorate of Utlia so that the city could be rebuilt with minimal interference from the Akaria-Utlia alliance who were winning the war.
Protectorate
In 26 PC, following the Battle of Brenji, Brenjia became a protectorate of Utlia. This was initially intended as a temporary five-year measure by Prias Jerifram-Aca as a way to allow Brenjia to rebuild amidst the First Great Attu War. In 31 PC, this status was extended by another ten years because the war was still ongoing. At the end of these ten years, a referendum was held to determine the protectorate's status, with the following options:
- Brenjia will become a province of Greater Utlia.
- Brenjia will re-join the Greater Nayela Union.
- Brenjia will join the Caseic Federation.
In the referendum, 56% of respondents voted for Brenjia to become a province of Utlia, 35% voted to re-join the G.N.U., and 19% voted to join the Federation.
