Noctop is a city located on the Noc Mountain Range, in the central portions of the mountains, of the island of Seaitean. Originally the first of their cities, it serves as the capital of the Gargan Civilization.
History
Noctop was founded circa 8,000 TT by an ever-increasing population of both magma and crystal farmers and theologians focused on understanding the rituals that create Gargans. Notably, the foundation of the city gave Elder Nier the resources necessary to create and distribute the written language of the Gargans. This would eventually allow the Followers of the Quake to establish a foothold in the accepted beliefs of the civilization as well as usher in the First Area of Progress.
In 5,348 TT, Noctop was abandoned at the beginning of the Shattering. Those living in and around the city left to form settlements back in the deeper caves in the Noc Mountains, leaving behind various items, including pieces of technology and art.
In 1,849 TT, Sularians eventually discovered the three-and-a-half millenia old remains of Noctop, including samples of Gargan writing and language, crystal technology, and art. These discoveries allowed the Sularian People to advance quickly.
In 765 TT, the Gargans reemerged from the deep and hidden cave systems where they had been for almost four-and-a-half millenia. Immediately upon their re-emergence, they found Noctop occupied by the Sularains. Due to wide adoption of the Gargan language by the Sularians, contact was easily and quickly established between both groups, leading to the Gargan-Sularian Concord. Gargans continue to repopulate Noctop, sharing the space with their new associates.
In 402 TT, the Great Passageway was created. A massive civil project, Gargans and Sularians spent 24 years clearing a safe passge through the Noc Mountains for the Sularians, who were able to immediately establish T'arvare along the Bay of Edges.
In 39 PC, following the discovery of non-Seaitean life by a Sularian fishing vessel, Noctop becomes the birthplace of the Seait High Council.
In 84 PC, the Seait High Council's main parliamentary office, located in the central administrative district of the city, suddenly exploded. The explosion was due to high energy crystals that had been previously stolen by an extremist group known as the Rift. No one was injured in the attack, and it is unclear if this was intentional.
