Oqovimoqo

Oqovimoqo is a mythic entity said to reside on the island of T'vaqi. It is described as a contorted reflection of the human circulatory system, its body consisting only of veins, arteries, and a beating heart. The "limbs" of Oqovimoqo are said to have strange, elongated proportions, splitting off into tangles at the extremities.

Behavior

Oqovimoqo is said only to appear in cities after sundown. It locomotes by hovering above the ground and gliding to its destination. Oqovimoqo tends to materialize near hospitals, though it is said to occasionally appear outside ordinary homes. Oqovimoqo will never materialize indoors.

After materializing, Oqovimoqo will enter the nearest building and begin exploring, observing humans from a distance. It makes no sound aside from the beating of its heart. By midnight, Oqovimoqo will inevitably locate an individual who will expire before sunrise, usually by cardiovascular failure. Once this individual has been located, Oqovimoqo will wait out of sight until the individual is alone. It will then travel to the individual's location and wait until expiry begins to occur. It is never seen during this process. Oqovimoqo begins to dematerialize after it feeds, becoming entirely incorporeal by sunrise. The individual it stalks is always found exsanguinated.

Sightings

Claimed sightings of Oqovimoqo always take place before it begins stalking its victim. The most famous claimed sighting attributes the death of Grand Magister Riqis Vilpan to the entity; supposedly, a servant of his caught a glimpse of it entering the building before Vilpan died in his sleep. This account is generally considered unreliable as it is known this particular member of Vilpan's staff was prone to hallucinations. Though Vilpan's body was interred at the Grand Mortuary, no official statement on the condition of his body was made, causing many to suspect that he had been drained of his blood and that the government was covering it up.

It is the consensus of most adults in T'vaqi that Oqovimoqo does not exist. Nonetheless, over 50 claimed sightings have been made each year since 43 TT, the year of Riqis Vilpan's death.
