Asymets

Asymets are a class of animal found on Mul Ues, distinuished by their asymetrical anatomy, black tarlike blood, boney-fleshy bodies, and subdermal eyes.

Classification

It is unknown which, if any, other living creatures the Asymets are related to, or how closely. Some have theorized, due to their posture and hunting styles, that they may be a highly mutated form of wolf. It is also possible they are an early divergent form of life, a third branch between vertebrates and invertebrates.

There is no internal classification of the Asymets, despite their clearly consisting of many different species, because no two Asymets of the same species have ever been observed, and it has been seen that dramatically different species are capable of reproduction of fertile young.

Biology

Asymets have few common features: hairless skin, subdermal eyes, gaping maws, black tarlike blood, and excesses of cartilaginous bone. Limbs typically number between three and eleven, and eyes between one and seventeen. Most asymets have thin limbs intended for rapid locomotion, with long flexible bodies. Asymet meat is largely toxic and inedible, and decomposes rapidly postmortem into a sludge. It has been observed that Asymet limbs can continue functioning for lengthy periods of time independently after being ripped off of their body, implying a noncentralized brain, something which has been corroborated by analysis of their movement patterns. Despite this, no brain has ever been identified in remains.

Behavior

It has been observed that Asymets are highly intellegent, to a degree similar to trained hounds, and are capable of group strategy and long term planning. Asymets frequently fight with and kill eachother, but will only eat one another when facing starvation. It is unknown why they are so prone to violence.

Asymets hold what can only be described as hatred for humanity, and will go out of their way to attack humans to a suicidal extent. Somehow, they even are capable of identifing human activity in an area regardless of observable pressence.

Relations with Humans

Since arrival on the island, the Deysachni have continually encountered issues with the Asymets. Early attempts were made to respect the wildlife and cohabitate with them, but these efforts were thwarted by the Asymets themselves, who were took immediately to attacking the humans. In the modern day, the Deysachni hunt Asymets for sport, though this is not known to impact their population.
