Calming denial is a conspiracy theory among people throughout the archipelagos positing that the Grand Calming, or possibly the subsequent 2nd Calming, never happened. The average believer in this conspiracy theory was born in 50 PC.
Believers in this conspiracy theory will posit alternative explanations for why there was no contact between islands before 1 PC. For example:
- Technology had not developed to allow people to cross seas until 1 PC.
- There had always been contact before 1 PC, but not by radio.
- The seas actually calmed in 70 TT, but the Akarians covered it up.
- There was no perpetual storm, but the seas were impossible to cross for other reasons.
