Civil Militia

From Attu Project

The Civil Militia or Provincial Militia is the system of policing in Utlia. Established by the provincial Yymaasyl, A militia division is created to serve an area, depending on the city size level, large district cities will typically have one militia precinct in each district, smaller cities will generally only have one and rural villages and towns tend to share divisions.

Ranks, positions

While individual militias are ran differently and contain differences between them, this information however generally applies to all district level militia divisions. Standard ranking goes as follows: the head of a precinct is known as the Dyelt Officer and takes on a managerial role, overseeing and commanding the rest of the station. Below the Dyelt is the Field Overseer, who has similar duties but works in the field. Under field overseer is where the majority of positions are ranked, these include roles in crime scene analysis, active response team, and militia paramedics. Under the vast majority of positions is Servicemen, who are the standard patrol officer and make up a bulk of the police force.

Other ranks include:

  • Orbit Detective (Investigatory department detectives not experienced enough to work on cases by themselves, required to have a trainer)

Organization

All district level militia divisions contain the following departments:

  • Social, domestic: handles cases related to domestic violence, child protection and other sensitive situations
  • Autopsy and morgue: Analyzes the dead
  • Organizational: Handles paperwork, organizes cases according to the Braian system of government organization.
  • Patrol response: Where patrolmen and Active Response is headquartered.
  • Investigatory: detectives mostly

Respect, legacy, cultural view

The Civil Militia system has been widely criticized since its creation after the first revolution, notably for its lack of centralization, poor wages, corruption and inability to stop crime and specifically organized crime.
