Ghost

Ghosts are a phenomenon that may occur when person or animal dies in a particular way. Instead of the soul of the deceased transitioning to the afterlife of their chosen religion, it may be forced to stay on attu and haunt a particular area or object as a volume-less, invisible being. The exact method and causes still remain unclear; however, sudden death is a likely factor based on interviews.

History

In a 22 PC experiment, Casporo Fantol proved the existence of ghosts using a large network of specially designed reflectors to capture a specter.

By 26 PC, he had successfully refined the technology down to portable case that could be carried by a single sufficiently hefty man. Casporo began offering his services to capture intrusive ghosts and dispose of them responsibly; yet, it soon came to light that Casporo was simply storing each captured ghost in a large warehouse and not releasing them as he advertised.

Ghost rights activists petitioned the Tieteran government to intervene, which it did in 28 PC, by passing the Ghosting Act which required repatriation to the proper religious institutions and larger containers for transport.

As of 40 PC, Portist leaders have reported that over 121k ghosts have been successfully transitioned to the afterlife or released back into the wild.
