Harakar Oken (frog)

Harakar Oken is a species of swamp dwelling ground-frog native to the south Utlian province of Azznin. Sometimes the frogs name is shortened to the Hoken frog.

Etymology

Originally known as "Ketek's frog" it was renamed in 47 PC by frogologist Ketek Sebyrenko to make fun of the former living king of Akaria, since the frog is known for its feces eating habits.

Description

A small ground frog, slightly larger than the palm of a woman's hand, the Hoken frog is brown with black spots for coloration, it has two eyes. Hoken frogs are known for their stench, they have been said to smell so bad that despite their small size you can tell they are on a hiking trail from the station down the road during breeding season. Their stench is believed by scientists to be a defensive measure to keep predators from eating them.

Breeding habits

Breeding Season lasts for two lerpoks around the start of Braianet and is done via breeding rituals where the males will compete for a female by seeing which male can hop the highest distance into the air. Hoken frogs will mate for life. They reach sexual maturity at around a season of age and can live up to fourty years, though the actual average age at time of death is in the late twentys and early thirtys.

Diet

Harakar Oken consumes primarily fecal matter of larger animals such as teye-hogs and Feyhara. The rest of their diet is made up of bones and decaying matter. The frogs have been observed by researchers to occasionally eat fungi as well.

Range

Harakar Oken are from Azznin and have not experienced much success in the illegal and exotic pet trade due to their smell. Within Azznin they are most common in the forests near the border with Direnomut
