Havdverg

The Havdverg are a race of short bearded humanoids living on the seafloor around the Niueyjar renown for their craftsmanship.

Society

Much like the humans of Niueyjar the Havdverg organize themselves in a clan system, though unlike the humans, the Havdverg clans are based off of an individual's craft. As a result children are considered clan-less until they come of age after which point being clan-less is considered an embarrassment to their families. When getting into disagreements both individual Havdverg and their clans have a habit of holding grudges with their fights often resulting in whirlpools being formed.

History

The Havdverg are originally thought to have been a land dwelling race having only moved to the seafloor once they discovered that they could drink salt water like wine. They remained independent until 7 PC when the Havdverg Clans joined the Confederated Nations of Niueyjar. When Dwarf Island was discovered in 17 PC the Havdverg were asked to act as ambassadors to the dwarfs due to the many similarities noted between the two peoples, the Havdverg councilor who was asked calmly responded by throwing a trident at offending official.

Notable creations

Havdverg are famous for having created the coral reefs and being responsible for painting the colors onto the seashells. They also notably discovered worldium and alongside the kelpies are the only known suppliers for the elusive metal leading some to speculate that it is an artificial creation.
