Hoshem

The hoshem (Hapšâw'l: hošên, a shortening of vidžahošêmây - branch cutter) is a type of knife commonly used on Hapšâw. Like it's name suggests, it is often used to cut through branches, vines, bushes or other plants, but it can also serve as a melee weapon. It's blade is straight and thick, and typically measures between 20 and 35 centimeters, only one side is sharpened; the hilt is usually made out of wood, and lacks a crossguard, the hilt sometimes ends with a loop, used to hang the knife on a wall. A hoshem is part of the standard kit for a Hapšâw'l Army soldier.
