Inport

From Attu Project

4Subdistrict/Southsouth-Port (Steamworkian: #20j9), known colloqually to humans as Inport, is the largest port of Steamworks, wherein trade with the rest of the world occurs. It is located on the southernmost tip of the island.

History

Prior to The Purge, there was a Creatorian settlement, referred to as Enxemm (#200j9), within the same area. Nothing is known of Enxemm, other than that it was a moderately sized fishing village, and one of the last refuges of humans on the island prior to the Calming. The modern Automaton settlement was founded on 9-1 17 TT at 8:47:16 AM.

Following Steamworks making contact with the rest of Attu, #20j9 was designated as the primary region of physical trade and human activity on the island, due to the strategic location and still-remaining elements of human settlment. It is unknown when the nickname of Inport came about, but it first appears in print in 36 PC.

Economy

Inport regularly sees trade between Steamworks and all manner of private and government organizations, primarily of much needed raw materials. Steamworks has placed no restrictions on trade partners, and as such Inport is a regular hub for pirates and black market organizations to sell ill-gotten goods, particularly the Qoeul-bo Hrnad. To avoid potential animosity, Inport is unofficially treated as a neutral zone by human parties. Faltirans however are often given special treatment, due to the longstanding good relations between the 3rd Empire and Steamworks.

Government

The city government of Inport is the Inport Subcouncil.

Culture

Inport is the only location on Steamworks with a prominant human population, though almost no humans live long term on the island. As such, there is a strong intermingling of human and Steamworkian local culture.
