Qhavo Bay (Sirotona Qhavo) is a bay in northern T'vaqi. It is the largest bay in T'vaqi.
Geography
The water of Qhavo Bay is saline, though markedly less so than the surrounding ocean. The coastline around the bay sports grassy bluffs to the west and sandy beaches to the east. Fish (particularly the Littlefish) and other marine life are plentiful in the waters.
Qhavo Bay was named so for its location in the north of T'vaqi. Translated, its name means north jutting water.
History
Prior to the Grand Calming, the coast of Qhavo Bay was easier to settle than other coastal areas, since it was closer to the island's center and thus less affected by the strong Storm presence. Parts of the coast were intermittently settled and abandoned by the Factions of T'vaqi over centuries. Evidence of a Qoa Lihi presence in the area is limited, but does exist.
After the Second Unification of T'vaqi, Qhavo Bay received renewed interest from industrial exporters, who could ship goods across the bay in favorable conditions. The Qhavo coastline would see its first permanently inhabited settlement in 215 TT, when the fishing village of N'isi was founded by traveling businessman Omo V'sha. Post-Calming, N'isi remains the largest city on the bay.
