(Redirected from Tsaju)
Tsaju is a language native to Kalam, mainly spoken by the Djaju people, Kalam's second largest ethnic group.
Origin
While once considered to be genetically related to Maichun, later linguistic research suggests that the similarities between Maichun and Tsaju are primarily due to extensive language contact rather than a shared ancestor. Its name likely derives from the Tsaju "Tsa Ju" meaning "Earth tongue" given the cultural significance the Djajupa's assign to fertile soil, the name "Djajupja" itself originating from "Dja ju pja" meaning earth people.
