The Viqho Peninsula (Siro'ar Viqho) is a peninsula in T'vaqi. It comprises the westernmost extent of the island.
Geography
The Viqho Peninsula has dry, salty soil, making the land unfavorable for agricultural development. Native grasses and plants are hardier than their inland counterparts. The beaches of Viqho are weathered and rocky. Viqho Point, the absolute westernmost point of the peninsula, is a rocky beach that descends gradually into the sea. The neighboring islands of Steamworks and Hapšâw are visible from Viqho Point. No boardwalk or other marker of Viqho Point's geographical significance has been constructed due to the maintenance and upkeep that would be required.
History
Subjected to heavy influence from the Storm for most of its existence, the Viqho Peninsula was historically difficult to settle pre-Calming. Its name translates literally to "west jutting land", and it constitutes the narrowest peninsula in T'vaqi. The area is generally lacking in useful natural resources, and did not see its first permanently inhabited settlement until 102 TT.
Post-Calming, the Viqho Peninsula has seen a rapid increase in development. The area is the site of four permanently inhabited settlements, only one of which (the town of Viqho) was permanently inhabited prior to the Calming.
In 69 PC, 15.3 square kilometers (~9.6%) of the Viqho area, encompassing the eponymous settlement, were ceded to Deysachin as a condition of the Lambent Concordat.
