Operation Crab Rescue

Operation Crab Rescue was a military operation undertaken by the Akaria-Utlia alliance between 18-5 and 20-5 2 PT in the Nation of Niueyjar. The operation was executed as an attempt to bring an end to the Utlian Sailor Crisis.

Background

On 15-5 2 PC, Erak was attacked by Niueyjar Loyalist. Docked at the city's port at the time was an Utlian ship delivering crabs to Vidar Astridson. Vidar had the crew of the ship detained whilst attempting to cover up the attack by claiming that an earthquake had injured the sailors and that they were receiving medical attention. President of Utlia Yyme Braia and his ally Harakar Oken of Akaria did not believe this and elected to send a strike force to rescue the captives.

The operation

The strike force commanded by Akarians and composed mostly of Utlians arrived off the coast of Niueyjar on 18-5 2 PC. The strike force was composed of two wings, the first to locate the captives the second to rescue them. As the first wing of the strike force was approaching Erak, the ship travelled through a reef off the coast of Niueyjar, which was spotted by a Niueyjara scout. Vidar threatened to kill the family of whichever leader was responsible for this incident. The first wing of the strike force landed later that day, followed by the second wing on the next day. The detained sailors were extracted on 20-5 2 PC.

Aftermath

Following the rescue of the captives, the Akaria-Utlia alliance publicly revealed the operation's existence. Vidar continued to make death threats towards Harakar and Yyme along with their families and people. On 9-12 2 PC, after lengthy planning, the Akaria-Utlian alliance began supplying the Niueyjar Loyalists with weaponry leading to Vidar's death on 7-3 4 PC.
