A churg is a small fox-like creature native to Niueyjar.

In Nature

In the wild churgs are carnivorous pack hunters known for their intelligence and ill temperament, often being seen harassing larger predators without fear. In ancient Niueyjara stories some churgs were even said to have specialized in hunting humans or other sapient species. At some point before the calming a population of churgs braved the storm and migrated to the island of Naliljar where they adapted to the poisonous mist shrouding the island by becoming a largely subterranean species, they also developed the ability to store and utilize the poison they breathe in for self defense purposes.

Domestication

According to Niueyjara stories the churg was never domesticated but rather chose to domesticate themselves, quickly becoming a status symbol due to the difficulty if sating their appetite. Despite the expense they remained popular among more wealthy pet owners due to their use as guardians and as disposal systems for the corpses of their missing political rivals.

Use

Niueyjar

Churgs are often kept as pets by the wealthy, meanwhile many of the common folk see them as a nuisance creature. Hunting wild churgs is a common activity for more affluent individuals due to the value of their pelts and the difficult posed in actually hunting churgs. The meat from these hunts is never eaten and instead traditionally fed to the hunter's pet churg as a reward for their assistance. The furs, on the other hand, are turned into luxury clothing due to the rich red color of the pelts, this is largely due to the lack of red dyes found natively on Niueyjar.

Deysachin

In Deysachin, churg meat is seen as a delicacy.

Eee

In eee churgs are a highly invasive species largely seen as a menace and a pest

Since the Grand Calming churgs have been seen on eee.

The churgs sent to Tietero were feral.
