Mieke

Mieke are an alleged species of supernatural entity in Utlian culture and folklore, Mieke are said to be the minds of dead Utlians who could not make it to the deep, instead being forced to roam as a spirit for eternity. Though Mieke can be harmful and malicious though most experts consider them to be mostly unintentional in their actions.

Description

Appearance

Mieke are said to be immaterial presences typically hovering above the ground and taking a vague version of their mortal body as appearance. They will often have parts of their spirit body be malformed, according to paranaturalists this is due to the miekes mind not being able to fully remember how they looked in life.

Behavior

Mieke reside in one area or building, not typically moving unless drastic change such as renovation or demolition occurs in their haunting area. Within this building mieke are known to cause minor disturbances, make noise, and appear to the residents within occasionally. While rare it is still possible for Mieke to be malicious and have a tendency to attack if they feel their home is threatened, this can be through throwing objects, possessing small animals, and causing fires. These harmful mieke also may show themselves more often to living residents as a scare tactic.

A common theory explaining reasoning behind some mieke becoming malicious is that if they are able to take a life they will get their old body back, whatever state it may be in. Paranaturalists have theorized that the most malicious mieke would be the ones that have most recently passed, as their body would only be slightly decomposed.
