Mesyetet-Ut

Mesyetet-Ut is an Utlian city, located in the province of Azznin. The city has historically been a center for prisons and law, specifically known for being the last place prisoners go before being exiled via Yekajyu. In the late first Aremt dynasty it was the primary location for prisoners of war to be held, with the majority of them being given life sentences. The Ariein family was given control of the prisons in Mesyetet sometime during the reign of Heres Aremt. On 1-1 2 TT all noble families were stripped of their power in a move by president Yyme Braia and Mesyetets prisons became part of the larger federal Bureau of Law. Following the Einru war the headquarters of the newly established Syetin Control Force was built along the southeastern cliffs.

The city has also been a center of art, specifically the Areteck style during the Early Unification period was formed in and grew out of Mesyetet by a number of artists at the South-Azznin School of Craft, which for a time was one of only two higher education institutions in Azznin that offered the arts.

History

Signs of habitation in what would become Mesyetet go back to 2200 TT, where it is believed that the nomadic tribe that would eventually mix with the Unlaunen city state and become the Frish, the Ueb people spent time across the Azznin panhandle.

In the 1860s TT the first permanent civilization was set up in Mesyetet-Ut, believed to be a part of the Utlian City State Boom throughout the 1800s, the name of this settlement was unknown and they did not have writing or permanent records. What is known about this society mostly concerns around their conflicts with the nearby Unlaunen city-state, which was written about at length in some of the oldest documents to come out of the city, the Mesyt people as later historians would call them, put up a valiant effort against the expansionist Frish; they reportedly used the terrain as their primary weapon, with the cliffs and rivers around Mesyetet being natural defenses. Despite this, they were absorbed by the Frish Kingdom in 1821 TT, as shown in the "Records of a Great Empire" an atlas of the Frish Kingdom from 1802 TT. In 1799 the town reached a population of 800 and was given the name Mesyetet.

Geography

Mesyetet is situated on the Ayrus river where it reaches the sea, the historic center of the city is located on the edge of the cliffs.
