Caifra Calming Riots

The Caifra Calming Riots were a set of riots in the city of Caifra, Abayea, G.N.U., Caseic Federation, following the Grand Calming.

Calming

The Grand Calming took place on 18-1 1 PC, putting an end to millennia of rough seas throughout the Attu Archipelago in general and to the west of the coastal city of Caifra in particular.

Events

18-1 1 PC

On the day of the calming, people near the shore observed the end of the perpetual storm. They soon gathered other people, to show them that the seas had calmed and the storm had receded. As the crowd grew, the bulwarks at the shore began to buckle. At around 15:00, one of them collapsed, causing about eleven people to slip and fall into the sea, resulting in injury. Some passers-by attempted to help those who fell, but lost balance, and also fell.

At 16:20, the municipal government of Caifra ordered a river boat to rescue those who had fallen. Due to a navigational error, the boat ran aground at 16:35, breaking a second bulwark. Commotion began to increase around the collapsed bulwarks. At 16:40, someone near the crowd threw a bottle of Brenji Morning at the centre, injuring an onlooker. The people near the site of impact began to blame the people nearest to them, and in a matter of minutes began a fight. This fight continued for several hours, resulting in more people falling into the sea. As the sea in the area is relatively shallow, drowning was not a primary concern, but getting back onto land is, as the bulwarks are raised a fair distance above sea level. At 17:00, a second river boat was sent to rescue the fallen and to assist the crew of the first boat. People continued to fall into the sea as the fight continued, but at 17:35, when the second boat arrived, the riot had slowed down, and fewer people were falling into the sea. At 19:00, the crowd around the collapsed bulwarks had dispersed completely.

A total of 60 people fell into the sea near the collapsed bulwarks on the day of the calming. Most were rescued by the second boat, and all were given compensation by the municipal government. None died, but one lost an eye.

19-1 1 PC

The following day, at 10:00 the municipal government of Caifra erected barriers around the collapsed bulwarks to prevent people from falling into the sea. At 14:00, some youths stole the barriers. At around 14:20, an administrator fell into the sea after absent-mindedly walking along the shore. They were rescued around 14:55.

20-1 1 PC

A second, much smaller, riot occurred on 20-1 1 PC, as a result of one of the youths who stole the barriers spooking a horse and sending it into the sea.
