Mertete

Mertete are creatures of Utlian Folklore.

Description

Mertete are described as short, pale creatures with long, thin limbs and large, pointed ears. They are said to eat wood and will steal wooden objects in Utlian homes, most commonly Azztanist crab idols. They are said to prefer the northern parts of Utlia but there have been occasional sightings in central and south Utlia.

History

The tale of the Mertete predates even the Monarchy of Utlia, the earliest accounts proven to be authentic by Utlian historians comes from the Kelna city state and the Eutan kingdom.
