Nakrama Riots

From Attu Project

The Nakrama Riots were a period of civil unrest in Okrit's capital of Nakrama following the death of 15 year old Dom Masopo.

Background

Aakar Orit united Okrit in 12 PC and had a rule characterised by corruption and heavy force

Timeline of events

The death of dom masopo - emoceye thievery - begin riots - aakars flee - violence and burning - orit meets harakar and they ally - aakars return w akarian soldiers and put down riots

Orit's rule had been characterized by heavy suppression of civilian rights in favour of securing military authority and personal wealth for himself and his family, enforced primarily through violence at the hands of his large personal guard, which acted as a de facto police force throughout Nakrama. In 17 PC the death of 15 year old Dom Masopo at the hands of Orit's guards incurred protests within Nakrama, which devolved into riots outside Orit's personal domicile due to the absence of an official statement and the recent misbehaviour of his second wife Aakar Emoceye. Violent clashes began with the police as word reached the public that the Aakar Family had fled Okrit for Akaria, with protestors entering and eventually destroying the Aakar domicile. Orit sought refuge with Living King Harakar Oken, striking an alliance with Akaria as well as establishing personal ties through the marriage of his daughter to Dakar Oken. Orit returned to Okrit with Akarian support and quelled the riots through force, establishing an Akarian military base and embassy within Nakrama that served to train Okriti soldiers in modern warfare and supply the regime with modern arms.

Outcome

Akarian support continued to be facilitated after Harakar's death through the Akaria-Okrit Improvement Council established by Artak Arkara, which continued.
