The term Okriti Unification refers to the period of time where the islands that comprise Okrit were brought under the single rule of Aakar Orit.
Background
Prior to 9 PC, the islands that now make up Okrit had not been unified, historically being split between a multitude of various different states over a large historical period. A large number of these states pertained primarily to specific ethnic groups, religions or other cultural denominations to their respective majority ethnicity. Some historically relevant political entities and figures include the Ukubian Empire & Patyan Toi Serot, the Kingdoms of Okso & Masrit, the city states of Moklo & the Omolai and non-state entities like the Tiger Warriors, the Riders of Inun and the various Highland Tribes.
Okrit first made contact with the outside world when climate conditions caused formerly severe sea storms east of Okrit to clear, facilitating sea access to the rest of the Attu Archipelago. First contact was made on 4-3 9 PC when fishermen from Niueyjar made landfall near the city of Moklo. During the initial period of contact from 9-10PC, eastern intentions were predominantly trade and diplomacy oriented, and formal communications began to form as vessels were naturally directed to Nkrama, an economically powerful city state that sat at the apex of the trade flow between the west and east of the Islands.
Timeline of events
Previously under the administration of a merchant council, Nakrama had fallen into a power struggle for de facto control over the city between the various noble Oye families. Of them, merchant Aakar Orit held the majority of influence and control over the city docks, making first contact with eastern powers prior to other noble families, a privilege that he utilized to monopolize communication with eastern nations and consolidate trade power over the city and its immediate proximity.
In 11 PC, Nakrama suffered an outbreak of Purple Fever, a likely eastern-borne disease with a high mortality rate within the unexposed Okriti populous, which spread quickly through Nakrama due to the high population and density. The outbreak put Nakrama into a position of severe social and economic strife that soon spread to nearby communities and other city states on the Omolai. Orit's access to trade goods from the more technologically advanced east allowed him to acquire modern medical supplies, which proved to be more effective to treating the outbreak than traditional Okriti medicine. Orit used his access to eastern medicine to secure control over surrounding communities through deals that secured medical supplies for loyalty and submission of authority, securing control over the majority of the other Omolain region. When Orit established radio communications with the eastern archipelago via the IGRS in 12 PC, he presented himself as the ruler of a unified Okriti state that spanned the entire islands, a position he used to further secure medicinal supplies from Haute Eee as well as arms for his personal mercenary retinue. By 13 PC Orit had established control over the majority of the Okriti lowlands through securing medical supply deals with local communities to ensure their loyalty as Purple Fever spread further across the islands, notably securing military support from the Kassafret highlanders.
