Ossbosche
An ossbosche is a senior member of the clergy of Mirroi. Ossboshes are elected by the udenbosches of whichever osslette they reside in and typically hold the title for life. Collectively, they constitute the Ossbosche Assembly.
One of the most important responsibilities of the ossbosches is to elect a new Living King in a conclave, from those nominated by the Kadrikes, when the prior Living King dies. Another duty is the managing of the osslettes, with each ossbosche managing one of them and interpreting living law within their osslette.
History
Nomadic period
The first ossbosches were the holy men of the drikes, who claimed to be able to speak to the spirits and deities worshiped and revered by the groups.
Following the establishment of Mirroi on 30-10 1795 TT, many of the ossbosches began supporting the Mirroi model of the universe.
Confederate period
Following the establishment and rise of the Akarinian Confederation, the amount of ossbosches partaking in pre-Mirroi practices began to decline. By 1600 TT all ossbosches were followers of Mirroi. During the Confederate period the ossbosches continued to serve as holy men for the tribal groups.
Absolutist period
With the establishment of the Kingdom of Akaria the ossbosches were given a new role in serving as the heads of the osslettes. Their new positions involved enforcing and interpreting living law within the new territorial units.
Assembled period
On 21-8 594 TT Living King Arikarin Deram used the Living Army to remove the Ossbosche of East Able from his position. The Arkara, with the support of their Kadrike allies, then waged the Able War against Arikarin. By the end of the war in 591 TT, Arikarin was dead and Akaria was under the control of the Arkara's coalition. On 30-3 591 TT, the Ossbosche Assembly was created through Arikarin's 714th Dictate. At its creation the assembly was composed of the ossbosches of the existing osslettes and was granted the power to veto any living dictate issued by the living king via a two-thirds vote. The definition of a living dictate was also changed to "any action of the Living King outside of his prescribed powers." The ossbosches themselves were also given greater protection from the Living King, with him no longer being able to remove them from their positions.
The veto requirement was changed from a two-thirds vote to a three-fifths vote on 1-8 25 TT due to Bantar's 1st Dictate.
Calm period
During and before the False War the Arkara had involved itself in many politically motivated assassinations, souring public opinion of them. On 4-2 3 PC Harakar Oken, with the support of the majority of the Council of Akaria, issued Harakar's 10th Dictate, barring members of the Arkara from being Ossbosches. Four days later Kamakta Arkara, Leader of the Arkara, declared his defiance of the dictate, beginning the Arkara Uprising of 3 PC. The assembly requested the aide of the Living Army and fought back against the Arkara. Peace between the Kingdom and the Arkara was achieved on 24-3 3 PC.
