Port John

Port John was a port in northeast Ronatana. It was the largest port along the eastern coast, prior to the Ransom War.

History

On 27-8 42 PC, the Qoeul-bo Hrnad seiged Port John as part of the Ransom War. The port persisted for weeks on stockpiles of goods, but they ran out of supplies three months in, and surrendered on 25-11. Reports conflict on whether the Qoeul-bo were more or less cruel to the surrendered populace, out of irritance or respect for their resistance respectively. It is known however that the proportion of the inhabitants taken into slavery was smaller than in other ports. On 6-12, John was renamed Rontansken-Ut, and acted as the headquarters for the Qoeul-bo occupation as they waited for the TLP to pay off their ransom of the rest of the island.

When the ransom was repayed on 30-4 43 PC, the Qoeul-bo withdrew from the island, with John reportedly being the last place occupied. In the years following the conflict, the population steadily declined, and by the time of the Ronatana Crisis the port was no longer considered a major settlement.
