Silicon Alley is a trade route between the Nation of T'vaqi and Hapšâw. The route is utilized for the trade of silicon (from which it derives its name) and lumber. Trade is facilitated by Port Silicon in T'vaqi and Tokšahalna in Hapšâw.
History
Silicon Alley was established in 61 PC following a negotiation between Řiselan and Grand Magister Loqa Pili. T'vaqi, having already cleared most of its forested land, was in need of wood for construction and manufacturing purposes. It was agreed that this lumber would be exported from Hapšâw in exchange for silicon. During the negotiation, it was also agreed that silicon is worth twenty times its weight in lumber; as the two islands do not share a currency system, this ratio of 20 to 1 became the official exchange rate between the two resources.
The establishment of the trade route has led to significant economic growth for the city of A'shara, T'vaqi's main silicon mining settlement.
