Loqa Pili was a Grand Magister of T'vaqi.
Early life
The second child of two wealthy investors, Loqa Pili rarely left the upscale northern district of Vir Alo during his childhood. His family lineage can be traced directly to Marilis Pili, one of the first three Grand Magisters of T'vaqi. Pili was raised with rigorous education even by T'vaqi standards, rotating through a cycle of tutors and private educators weekly. After taking the CC Exam he received a score of 38, considered the highest CC Score humanly possible. Pili was immediately accepted into the High Institute of the Sciences and received free tuition, though his parents chose to pay the tuition anyway. Pili majored in business and economics. Despite his score, Pili chose not to work for several years after completing his studies, instead living off of the money periodically sent to him by his parents. At the age of 26 he was urged by his father to find employment.
Television marketing
At the age of 28, Pili began working as a salesman for television systems, which had only recently been invented in T'vaqi. Pili met his first wife, Pasha Li, through this job. Working on floor 63 of Tomo Tower, he kept this job for nine years, eventually being promoted to marketing executive. Through this job Pili claimed to have learned "the art of negotiation," taking it upon himself to popularize the television across T'vaqi. This effort was largely unsuccessful; newspaper and radio remained the dominant forms of entertainment on the island.
Political career and rule
Loqa Pili decided to enter politics in 30 PC after his older brother, Hrvas Pili, was promoted to Senior Magister. Loqa Pili was immediately promoted to Magister by his brother. His wife at the time was furious with his decision to abandon his former job and filed for divorce. Pili remarried with a young widow, Vria Qoqho, two years later. In 41 PC, Pili's brother was elected as Grand Magister, and chose Loqa as one of his subordinate Senior Magisters. Once Hrvas Pili was succeeded by Dimasi V'sha in a 50 PC election, Loqa Pili became a subordinate of V'sha, whom he was largely unsuccessful in swaying the decisions of.
Following the death of Arav Ila, Pili was elected as Grand Magister in 55 PC. Notably, he was not a subordinate of the Grand Magister he replaced, as is typical of Magisterial elections; the subordinate Senior Magisters of Gmr. Ila were not allowed to run in the election as punishment for the scandal that surrounded Ila's death.
Pili created the Substance Distribution Monitoring Agency in 61 PC, after illegal substance consumption was declared a nationwide epidemic in T'vaqi. He served as the self-appointed leader of the organization.
Pili was one of the two belligerent Grand Magisters during the Tricade War, alongside Insi Q'so. His aggressive tariffs on foreign goods combined with Q'so's aggressive naval reconnaissance cascaded into the conflict. Pili was the first of the two to surrender, doing so after coercive measures were taken by Gmr. Adisa Aram.

Death
In 70 PC, Pili was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The following year, his second wife contacted a physician with concerns regarding recent erratic behavior; Pili was subsequently diagnosed with a terminal memory-affecting disease in its middle to late stages. The doctor suggested that its symptoms, including sudden outbursts of anger and fear, began manifesting in 56 PC, the year after Pili took office. After some time, Pili began forgoing his treatment for increased doses of Opulilum, a Rossan painkiller which he had developed a dependence on.
After threatening him with demotion, Pili was fatally poisoned by Senior Magister Havo T'l in 72 PC. During the poisoning, Pili became erratic and bludgeoned T'l with a teapot, knocking him unconscious before attempting to open a bottle of Opulilum. The hallucinogenic N'shoqala compound used to carry out the poisoning went unnoticed by toxicologists due to its relative obscurity and difficulty to procure. This combination of factors led investigators to conclude that Pili fatally overdosed on painkillers before attacking an unwitting T'l. T'l subsequently won the election that followed Pili's death, being promoted to Grand Magister.
