Biography

Early life

Targhan was born on 27-10 1210 TT in Saeskar. He was the first and only son of Kotok Skrake, Leader of the Skrake who was forty when Targhan was born. Targhan became Leader of the Skrake on 23-11 1160 TT, three days after his father's death. On 26-7, 1147 TT Targhan Skrake was elected Living King.

Karkon Showhouse

In early 1165 TT Koltonoi Deram, Leader of the Deram, began work on the Karkon Showhouse. Though there was a great deal of enthusiasm towards the project in Agrada, the construction of the building progressed slowly due to inadequate funding. Shortly after becoming Living King, Targhan agreed to use Akarian taxes to pay for half of the project's expenses. This agreement was officialised through Targhan's 1st Dictate issued on 27-9 1147 TT.

The Bosken Perikat to which Targhan belonged sharply criticised this dictate. The members of the perikat saw the funding of a Deram project as a form of betrayal as they considered the Deram to be among their primary rivals. The relationship between Taghan and his perikat was further damaged two years later when he married Koltonoi's granddaughter Weguk.

Bojin-Dakon Border Crisis

Around 1150 TT, demand for sukazandassaz fruit in the Weer Kadrike skyrocketed. The Bojin Kadrike, which had vast orchards of sukazandassaz, soon began exporting large amounts of the fruit to the Weer. The primary road connecting Gaviskar to the Weer Kadrike passed through the Dakon Kadrike. On 4-12, 1148 TT, the Dakon placed a transit fee on any trader moving through their land transporting sukazandassaz fruit. The Bojin responded to this on 16-12 1148 TT by placing a ten percent tax on all goods and services purchased by members of the Dakon. Four days later, the Dakon closed their border with the Bojin.

Targhan met with Chokdai, Leader of the Bojin, on 3-8 1138 TT to discuss forcing the border open to bring an end to the crisis. Targhan had no intent to order the border open and instead proposed the creation of a new road between Gaviskar and Saeskar. By the end of the meeting, it was agreed that the Bojin and the Skrake would cofinance the creation of the new Gaviskar-Saeskar Highway and that Targhan would use his powers as Living King to keep the road open. Work on the highway began on 12-8 1138 TT. At the same time, Targhan issued his 9th Dictate. The dictate established the Warden of Roads that was to manage the new highway once it was completed. The dictate also specified that any roads under the control of the Warden of Roads could only be closed down by the Living King. Targhan's 10th Dictate, issued on 26-12 1136 TT put the newly completed Gaviskar-Saeskar Highway under the control of the Warden of Roads.

Death

Targhan died on 14-10 1122 TT.
