Unification of Utlia
The unification of Utlia was an event that happened on 5-5 1102 TT where the kings of the Eutan and Frish Kingdoms met and signed a treaty that merged the two kingdoms into one.
Background
In the few centuries before the treaty, the kingdoms of Eut and Frish had grown from average city-states into dominant forces on Utlia, effectively ending the city-state era by annexation. The two kingdoms had been generally friendly towards each other and had focused on annexing their smaller neighbours. Calls for unification began in the universities of Kelna and Unlaunen, the respective capitals of the Eut and Frish kingdoms, it was argued by many scholars at these universities, most notably Ersen Lofes that given the free movement and trade, as well as the very intertwined politics of the monarchies, that the easiest option was the unification of the nations. This sentiment was echoed by nobles of the kingdoms like the Shote family, who began to convince the Eutan royal Liamia family of the idea, who became overtly pro-unification. In the Frish Kingdom, many of the Frish and Eien families were pro-unification but the King himself was not, after his death in 1100 TT, his pro-unification son Shaen Eien took the crown.
The treaty
The treaty was signed near the Bal River in the Eutan kingdom by Wynlid Liamia and Shaen eien on 4-7 1102 TT. The treaty stipulated that unified Utlia would be ruled by Wynlid but he would need to appoint 2 Frish kingdom advisors as well as give the Frish family special status as a "royal family" which was essentially the same as an Utlian Noble Status but with a different name.
Legacy
The unification agreement is remembered as a day to celebrate and is an Utlian federal holiday
