The Wyrm is a mythic beast which is said to have terrorized the Clanlands, consuming all it came across. The Wyrm was slain by Welo the Great, who killed it from the inside out. To say that something has been "consumed by the worm" is a Spyronian expression, describing a situation which has been lost with little chance of recovery.
