• The Republic of La Rossa is a democratic republic ruled by the Dux. The Dux wields near-absolute power, and can only be vetoed by the Advisory Council.
• The Dux is elected to two-year terms, although there are no limits on how many terms one can hold. The current Dux is Alessandro Spadi, in power since 7-2 79 PC.
• The Republic of La Rossa is a nation consisting of six city-provinces, which hold limited administrative power over their own territories. The shared nation has existed in some form since 1044 TT, following the Unification of La Rossa.
• Throughout most of the nation's history, power was wielded by the Six Families, dynasties that held rule over their respective cities. For centuries, they were the only ones with the power to elect a Dux.
• La Denunzia, a revolt that happened in 5 PC, overthrew the old aristocratic system, and installed the revolutionary leader Giulio Falcone as Dux. The nation transitioned into a universal democracy following his resignation in 15 PC.
• The Second Calming swept the island in 9 PC, although the nation did not make contact with the other islands. In 41 PC, Dux Leo Minestrici di Mineria would establish contact with the Attu Archipelago, an event now known as the Rossan Opening.
• La Rossa is a founding member of the House of Light, an economic and military alliance.
• Two major parties dominate Rossan politics, the worker-oriented and isolationist Isola and the conservative-internationalist Mare.
