Liaia is a city-state country located in southern Nongba. The country is technically independent but is under the Republic of Utlia oversight, classified as a "Seryn province" by the country.
History
While originally under the jurisdiction of the DHM, following the Nongban Civil War the land was given to the Republic of Utlia in the Treaty of Liaia. Liaia then became the first official Seyrn province of greater Utlia.
Initial growth
In 29 PC the Maasyl voted to instate special benefits for immigrants that want to live or work in Liaia. This gave the relatively empty land an instant population boost. Also in 29 PC the Maasyl narrowly passed a bill giving special status to the Seryn province that allowed non-governmental companies to operate within it, as opposed to the government monopoly and oversight from the Central Bank of Tinlea on mainland Utlia. Shortly after this the first Azztanist shrine was opened on the island, the shrine of Kiyrn-Myren also became the first registered historic site in the country. The port of Liaia-Ut was expanded later the same year to accommodate the influx of shipping and immigration.
