Yetkeo is a keo subculture that began in the 30 PCs.

History

Yetkeo comes from the Yetmey Corel art collective operating out of the Keotyo district of Balmor-Ut.

Early rise

In 31 PC the Yetmey Corel art collective, then an underground network of local musicians and visual artists, moved its place of headquarters into the Keotyo district of Balmor-Ut; the area at the time was known for being a bustling shopping district with a number of abandoned warehouses and rundown venues in its north side. During the move, founder of Corel, artist, and occasional dueleikist for Iruneri, Umel Yoka noticed that the building they had moved into was directly adjacent to an army surplus store, seeing the old and out of commission National Army gear sparked inspiration in Umel and he quickly brought a crate of clothing back to Corel headquarters.

Paze

Around the time Yetkeo began gaining notoriety in Balmor-Ut, a writer named Yyreme Netkech started Paze, a publication dedicated to keeping people up to date on Yetkeo bands and news surrounding the subculture.

Characteristics

Yetkeo adherents are known for clothing largely sourced from army surplus vendors, which are legal throughout much of Wynlia and North Utlia, most notably pin-adorned jackets used by the National Army are a staple fashion. The other primary characteristic of members is a love for the Mrael genre of music, which was experiencing a boom in popularity at the time due to bands like Archek! and Iruneri. The subculture is often associated with horses, this is attributed to the confusion with jeroekeo, a different keo subculture from northern Utlia.

"Rivalry" with Ideokeo

A notable characteristic of Yetkeo is a strong dislike of Ideokeo, a style and genre of idol music that was massively popular among Utlian youth in the 20s and 30s, many scholars posit the rise of Yetkeo as a reaction to the assumed artificial nature of Ideokeo and the industry around it. Umel Yoka himself has stated that he harbors a strong hate for the genre, despite its catchy sound, he is quoted in a 26 PC interview as saying the following:
