Yekajyu

Yekajyu or Sea Exile is an Utlian traditional festival that occurs in coastal towns when a prisoner commits a crime punishable by exile. Originally a Frish tradition, allegedly inspired by a Telan ritual, Yekajyu involves a festival and subsequent "exiling" of a prisoner via raft into the storm, while not technically considered an execution method it is commonly seen as one.

Event

Taking place on the end date of a prisoners sentence (usually a fairly short sentence, lasting on average ten lerpoks) the ceremony itself involves Yekmen, the executors of the exile itself taking the prisoner to a grassy court and guarding them as an oversi gives the prisoner their final statement on life. Outside of the court and prison there is a special feast held at the local shrine
