Lasken is a city in the Kingdom of Akaria and the capital of the Lakar Kadrike.

History

In 1681 and 1680 TT Leader of the Akarinian Confederation, Wayok, signed several treaties with the Weer Nation whilst he was imprisoned in Manser following the Akarinian-Weer War. The Weer Nation sought to establish a port on the western coast of Akaria. Though the treaties signed allowed them to establish garrisons throughout Akaria the Weer wanted a functioning trade hub to go along with the port. They made a deal with the Lakar on on 28-10 1680 TT which had the following provisions:

  • The Weer Nation would fund the initial creation of a settlement called Lasken within Lakar territory, including a port
  • Weer would be granted the right to trade in the city and use the port
  • In all other ways Lasken would be administered by the Lakar
  • The Weer Nation would send a representative to serve as an advisor to the Leader of the Lakar, who could only be removed from his post by the Weer Nation and was replaced by the Weer Nation on death or removal

In 1515 TT marauder groups called Feyaks began rising up in the Karin Plain in a period now known as the Marauder Crisis. The scale of the crisis only became apparent after the Burning of Skrasken on 11-6 1514 TT. Fearing the same fate befalling Lasken, Leader of the Lakar, Balakar Lakar asked his Weer advisor, Goranteer Alandoro to ask the Weer Nation to provide defence for the city. The Weer Army arrived Lasken on 17-7 and signed a protection agreement with Balakar. The Komur Feyak arrived in the outskirts of Lasken on 1-5 1473 TT. Leader of the Lakar, Okal Lakar knew that the Feyak was run by his distant cousin Komur Lakar but did not now if he could trust him. His Weer advisor, Baraleer Alandoro –who knew that Komur had retired and been replaced by Temur Bokok– recommended letting the host into the city, which Okal went along with. Once in the city, Temur deposed Okal and replaced him with Komur's son Bekar. After the takeover, the Weer Nation began providing the Komur Feyak with supplies and provided an advisor to the Feyak.

Klaichandoi Lakar was elected Living King on 16-8 460 TT, starting the 1st Lasken Perikat, named after the city. It would last until 15-3 143 TT, the longest lasting of any perikat.

Construction began on a kelp oil pipeline between Intrigo Punkto, Tietero and Lasken on 9-1 27 PC. The pipeline was called the Lasken Oil Pipeline.

On 15-1 30 PC fisheries in Lasken reported record harvests of the great yellow clam – the start of the Grand Claming. The Lasken Fishery Corporation ordered several hundred clam bombs from the Weer Kadrike on 25-2 for further clam exploration. On 16-8 the Lasken Fishery Corporation announced sightings of eastern wedge clams off the coast of Akaria.
