Religion in the Caseic Archipelago

Within the Caseic Archipelago, Framjism and Gastism are the largest religions. However, after the Grand Calming, other religions from across the seas began to spread within the Caseic Archipelago.

History

Pre-calming

In the Forgotten Era, the Caseic Archipelago was dominated by two large empires: the First Empire of Framja and the First Empire of Gasta. As the Caseic Mnemovore caused widespread memory loss around 1900 TT, these empires collapsed. Under the Second Empire of Framja, which sought to reconstruct the First Empire based on what remained, the first Conclave of Framche was declared in (Caseic Calendar: A678) to define the laws of the Second Empire. Over time, the decrees of the Conclave of Framche became intertwined with religious beliefs, forming the modern religion of Framjism.

Meanwhile, in the south-west of Casea, a similar process happened amidst the ruins of the First Empire of Gasta. As old texts were unearthed, they began to form a dystheistic belief system known as Gastism. Whereas Framjism is centrally organised by the Conclave of Framche, Gastism acts more as a folk religion.

At the time of the Grand Calming, Framjism was most commonly practiced in the north of Casea, and Gastism was most commonly practiced in the south and on the island of Brisa.

Post-calming

After the Grand Calming, the Caseic Archipelago was introduced to other religions, as a consequence of inter-island trade. Most notably Mirroi, Azztanism, and Modhes. These religious minorities are typically tolerated by Caseic state governments, even if they officially have a state religion.
