The Caseic Calendar is the calendar that was historically used in the Caseic Archipelago before the Grand Calming. Its use was phased out and replaced by the Haracalnde in 6 PC for the purposes of simplifying trade with the Eastern Bloc.

Description

The Caseic Calendar uses a 351-day year, split into thirteen months, all with 27 days each. The months, in order, go from 0 to 9, then are followed by X, Y, and Z. Days are written as numbers ranging from 01 to 27, with leading zeros included for single-digit days. There are no leap years or intercalary days.

For historical purposes, prefixes are used to denote years in the distant past. The prefix C is used for a day exactly 1000 Caseic years before the date in question. e.g. C572-8-24 is exactly 351000 days before 572-8-24. Similarly, the prefix A is used for 2000 Caseic years, and though rarely used because of how little is known about ancient Caseic history, E is for 3000 Caseic years.

History

The Caseic Calendar was first adopted in the Cajia Kingdom as an alternative to regnal year numbering, since the consistency of the 351-day cycle and 27-day subcycles allowed for more efficient trade. The year 0 was defined as the day the Cajia Kingdom ended the practice of slavery in an effort to stop Pechi from lowering the air pressure.

Conversion

The Caseic Calendar was phased out in 6 PC, to be replaced by the Haracalnde. To do so, the conversion datum used was the day of the Grand Calming: Haracalnde 18-1 1 PC is equal to Caseic 572-8-24. To determine other days, count the number of days since the Grand Calming: the difference in day count should be the same. For longer periods of time, it is useful to know that 40 Caseic years are exactly equal to 39 Haracalnde years.
