1st Fort Garikoph Agreement
The 1st Fort Garikoph Agreement was a peace treaty signed between the Kingdom of Akaria and the Confederated Nations of Niueyjar (CNN) on 17-3 20 PC, formally ending hostilities and establishing terms for trade and territorial recognition.
Background
The Kingdom of Akaria and the Confederated Nations of Niueyjar had been engaged in conflict due to territorial disputes and the military presence of CNN forces in contested regions. CNN forces had occupied parts of Akarian territory, notably Kadar's Rock, leading to escalated tensions between the two nations. These disputes necessitated a formal agreement to restore peace and stability in the region.
Negotiations
Negotiations took place at Fort Garikoph, an ancient fortress located on Kadar's Rock, off the coast of Akaria. Artak Arkara, the leader of Akaria, met with Councilor Svarn Svarndaughter of Clan Helgen, representing the CNN. The meeting aimed to resolve ongoing conflicts and establish a foundation for peaceful relations between the two nations.
Terms of the Agreement
The agreement stipulated several key terms aimed at fostering peace and cooperation. Both nations agreed to cease all hostilities, officially ending the state of war between them. The CNN committed to withdrawing its military forces from Akarian territory upon the signing of the agreement, notably vacating Kadar's Rock to alleviate immediate tensions.
In terms of territorial recognition, the Kingdom of Akaria acknowledged the CNN's sovereignty over Faltir and Amogusolia Island. Conversely, the CNN recognized Akaria's claims in the Eastern Ocean, including Paradise Island. This mutual recognition was intended to resolve long-standing disputes over these regions and prevent future conflicts.
Regarding territorial waters, Akaria agreed to recognize waters within three nautical miles as CNN territory, while the CNN agreed to recognize waters within two nautical miles as Akarian territory. This arrangement was designed to establish clear maritime boundaries and reduce the likelihood of future maritime disputes.
The agreement also addressed trade relations. Akaria granted the CNN unrestricted trade access in the port city of Manser, facilitating economic cooperation and benefiting both nations through increased commerce. Discussions were held on reducing tariffs and easing restrictions on CNN businesses operating within Akaria, aiming to promote mutual economic growth and strengthen diplomatic ties.
Lastly, the treaty left open the possibility of future cooperation in military technology. While Artak Arkara declined to immediately share missile designs with the CNN, both parties acknowledged that improved relations could lead to such exchanges in the future, signaling a willingness to collaborate more closely if trust between the nations deepened.
