High Institute of the Sciences

The High Institute of the Sciences is a T'vaqi learning academy at the highest level of education.

History

The Institute was founded in 235 TT one year before its sister academy, the High Institute of the Arts. Hrso Vinshasi, the inventor of the Cognitive Capacity Scale, served as headmaster for both Institutes until 226 TT; each Institute has been led by a separate headmaster since. Similarly to its sister institute, the High Institute of the Sciences boasts numerous notable alumni, including current Grand Magister Loqa Pili.

The two High Institutes are symbols of national pride, hailed as the largest wealth of knowledge on the island. Delegates from both Institutes have been sent to Kalam and Deysachin to further collective cultural understanding; Kalam's first academies hired these delegates as foreign teachers.

Academics

The High Institute of the Sciences teaches classes relating to several different fields, though statistical analysis has remained the academy's most popular major for over a century. Environmental science is the least popular area of study at the school, and those pursuing a degree in the field often struggle to find work despite their prestigious education. The Institute does not allow foreign immigrants to attend, though children of foreign descent are still eligible to take the CC Exam and attend the academy.

As the minimum CC Score for enrollment is 25, the Institute places much higher expectations on its students than other T'vaqi academies. It is estimated that at least 11.2% of students drop out in their first year of classes; one notable dropout is former Grand Magister Insi Q'so, who never completed his studies at the Institute.
