The Light of Azzta is the name given to a belief within Azztanism that every Utlian is born with Azztas protection. The concept is written about by Vyren Kiyrn in his important book Azztanism.
Background
In Azztanism by Vyren Kiyrn, the book of interviews and commentary with/about the deity Azzta. Vyren asks Azzta about how his arrival affected Utlians. Azzta responded by saying that every Utlian now contains a piece of his shell within their body. In contemporary Utlia the Azz'marin does not clarify if its physically within the heart or deeper in the mind or spirit, causing debate amongst religious scholars.

Lyre Uteman
On X-X-44 TT A Lyre Uteman in Tinlea-Ut was found dead with no clear cause of death. During the autopsy the doctors checked inside his heart, where they found a large piece of shell from an at the time undiscovered species of crab. This led to furious debate and speculation around the origins of the shell, with many Azztanists saying that this was simply a man of such holiness that his light grew too big, killing him in the end. This camp of beliefs had begun a petiton to the Azz'marin to get the man canonized as a Sojourner, this was put up to a Kiyr Committee vote, who voted 4-1 against it. In 39 TT an ecological research team in The Capital Region surrounding Tinlea discovered a species of crab, upon careful examination of collected specimens they noticed the odd shell markings resembled the Lyre Uteman from 5 years before. This led to a re-opening of the investigation. The final report concluded that the man was a fisherman who ingested the crab and had a severe allergic reaction to it. After this verdict the crab was officially named the Corpse Crab.
On 3-5-4 PC The Azz'marin retroactively made the man a Sojourner, calling the police report "faulty and uninformed."
The deep sickness
The Light of Azzta is believed to be the only protection against the deep sickness, a recently discovered phenomena where individuals without the Light experience symptoms such as nausea, headaches and hallucinations upon entering the island of Utlia. This ailment is considered to be a primary reason for low immigration into Utlia. The Azz'marin official statement being that the sickness is Azzta trying to ward off attackers of his chosen island.
