Azz'marin

The Azz'marin is a religious institutions in Utlia, it functions as the manager of Azztanism and is considered one of the most powerful groups in the Utlian government. Its headquarters are in the Kiyrn District of Unlaunen-Ut
History
After the return of Vyren Kiyrn in 1798 TT the Frish king at the time, Lewyen Rentt established the Azz'marin as a way to centralize the newly discovered religion. The first church was built near Kiyrns home in Unlaunen-Ut.
Pre-unification
Before the unification of Utlia there were 2 Azz'marins, the original in the Frish Kingdom and one formed by the Eutan Kingdom so they would not have to abide by another kingdoms organization.
Post-unification
As part of the unification agreement the Frish Azz'marin was selected to be kept and the Eutan one was dissolved.
On 10-1 1096 TT the Kiyr Committee voted on the holyness of regions of the island, the bogs of Direnomut were voted last due to "sparse population, lack of history and devoid of culture." On 20-1 1096 the committee voted to disqualify the province of Direnomut from having a member in the Kiyr Committee.
Organization
The Azz'marin is state controlled and all priests and scholars of Azztanism must be recognized by the Azz'marin and its head committee to operate within the Republic of Utlia.
Priest types
In the Azz'marin there are 3 kinds of clergymen, Ardey, Ledeys and Cuspmen. The Ardey are the most common and populous of the 3, they are the preachers of Azztanism in shrines. Ledeys are members of the Azz'marin who are former Ardey that have been selected for their exceptional holiness and devotion to Azzta. Ledeys are traveling clergymen, moving between religious sites to preach and pray. Cuspmen are theologians, religious advisors and one of the most respected groups in Utlia. The Cuspmen study the books of Vyren Kiyrn as scholars. They are also the second highest position within the Azz'marin, only below the Kiyr Committee.
Army reserve
Along with the clergymen the Azz'marin also has a reserve of soldier-priests called Arznyr. The Arznyr do exist in modern Utlia but have not been used since the Merriyem wars of the Aremt and Slofyr dynasties.
Kiyr Committee
The Kiyr Committee is a group of five Utlians who govern the whole of the Azz'marin. Of the five, one of the members must also have a seat at the Upper Cabinet as a religious advisor. The rule is a continuation of the law during the Utlian Kingdom that required a king or queen to have atleast 1 member of the Kiyr Committee in their advisors. The committee is one of the oldest surviving institutions of Utlia, originally being formed when the Azz'marin was first established.
New members of the Kiyr Committee are voted on by religious workers within the Azz'marin, such as Ardey or Cuspman.
Sojourners
Sojourners are figures in Azztanism who are recognized for exceptionally holy or great act in the name of Utlia. The title was originally reserved for explorers due to the belief that it is the holiest of occupations an Utlian could attain in their life but over time the restrictions on who could be awarded the title have withered.
