Urusab

Urusab is a god in the Telan pantheon of mythology. He is the god of tools, metal and trust. He is commonly depicted with a blacksmiths hammer in one hand and a pickaxe in the other, he is shown to be a large, hairless man of immense strength, despite his divinity, he chooses to wear commoner attire. He was a major god in Tela and due to the construction techniques used in his altars and temples, has the most remaining buildings of worship out of the entire pantheon, the majority of which are now protected sites of history.

Appearance

Urusab is shown in almost all legends to be larger than any man but not giant, of great strength and completely hairless, he wears hebet rags, common among low class leather workers in Tela

Personality

Urusab is shown to be short tempered but kind to mortals, he is an outcast among the Meretis gods due to him not being related to the majority of them. He is shown to consistently provide gifts to his believers and torment those who oppose him, notably the legendary blacksmith Nerwet, who was gifted free entry into Meret by Hekebryl, who told him he could replace Urusab in the pantheon, as punishment the god had Nerwet placed in a kiln for the rest of eternity, where he will suffocate and burn.

Mythology

Urusab was not born like many of the other Meretis gods, instead he was created by Bunersket with a hammer and a chunk of limestone.

Urusab is the central character in A Night of Hate, a story turned stage play based on his self-imposed exile from Meret, which he does after Frekrut refuses to stop challenging Urusabs believers to make a perfect weapon, only to kill them with the finished product when it does not meet his expectations, Urusab tries to confront other Meretis gods about this but after being met with negative reactions he chooses to leave the realm and wander the mortal world instead. The story also features Urusab visiting Wycalt to curse Frekrut with nearsightedness in one eye and farsightedness in his other.

Belief history

Urusab was primarily worshiped by craftsmen, who believed that Urusab would bless them with fractions of his skill. Famous Telan sculptor Rerecert claimed to be blessed by him after finishing his masterwork, the 50 meter tall Hene statue in central Tela.
