Wycalt is the name of the religion practiced in the Eutan Kingdom before the arrival of Azztanism in the country. The religion is named after and based around the Tela deity known as Wycalt. In Azztanism he is one of Azztas Morsote

Beliefs

Wycalt is the deity of blood, famine, luck, brenya and bones, rituals are common in Wycalt and usually involve at-least 1 of these things. The Eutan Kingdom saw Wycalt worship being banned in Tela as a sign that the deity must be good for causing harm to the Tela people and benefiting the Eutans.

A common ritual in Wycalt was burning large effigies resembling Tela skeletons near the border with the city-state, to "ward off" the "Tela evil" present near the border.

Description

Wycalt, the being, is described as a naturally formless being by the Tela. After being adopted by the Eutan people it became commonly accepted that Wycalt liked to take the form of Eutan men and women. It is believed that Wycalt will take the appearance of recently deceased people. Another major depiction of Wycalt is a humanoid being with a large kelyne crab or Brenya skull as a head.

Debate

During the middle period of the Utlian Kingdom it was proved that after adopting Wycalt as their god, the Eutan Kingdom never saw a major drought or famine again, while the Tela would routinely experience both. This led to fierce debate around the nature of Wycalt, with many Azztanist scholars proudly touting the god as a servant of Azzta. In contemporary Utlia it is commonly accepted that this has much more to do with the fertile ground of the plains that formed much of the Eutan Kingdom.

Downfall

Belief in Wycalt became less popular with the introduction of Azztanism, from 1800 to 1730 TT the religious status of the majority of Eutan citizens became Azztanist, in 1735 the Eutan King Leirtet Uyst converted to Azztanism, making him the first Azztanist king and last Wycaltist in power. After his conversion Leirtet had Wycalt canonized as a sojourner within both the Eutan Azz'marin and later the Frish Azz'marin as well, his reasoning being that Wycalt was not an ominipresent deity but a man given extraordinary ability by Azzta to serve him against the Tela people.
