The Eparchy of Chaba is a state in the Caseic Federation, located in south-west Casea. Its capital is Chaba Pechi
History
In the Classical Era, Chaba was part of the Nacha Republic. In the Nachia War, it formed the eastern component of South Nachia, which sided with Esiara and secured Esiara's independence. On (Caseic Calendar: 240-X-20), the Treaty of Jim-Pechi was signed, ending the Nachia War. On (Caseic Calendar: 243-Z-14), a great landslide made the road between Chaba Pechi and Capa Gasti difficult to traverse, forcing the local government in Chaba Pechi to operate independently. On (Caseic Calendar: 244-0-03), Igrenec Chabaim, then-mayor of Chaba Pechi declared herself the first Duchess of Chaba. On (Caseic Calendar: 244-1-10), she was deposed by her former deputy-mayor Cyarin Iri-Gastofrem, who had gained popular support from the citizens of Chaba Pechi by contrasting themself against Chabaim. On (Caseic Calendar: 244-2-18), Iri-Gastofrem established the constitution of Chaba, based loosely off of the existing constitution of South Nachia. When the road to Capa Gasti was re-established on (Caseic Calendar: 245-4-26), Chaba had already become its own government, and was forced to officially break from South Nachia, which had since renamed itself to Panifra-Gache.
The constitution of Chaba established a new office: the Eparch of Chaba, who acts as the state's leader. The title "Eparch" was deliberately chosen to contrast with Chabaim's title of Duchess by emphasising the non-hereditary and democratic nature of the office. Iri-Gastofrem intentionally limited the term of the Eparch of Chaba by making it a one-year office which an Eparch can only serve once. On (Caseic Calendar: 366-5-10), the constitution of Chaba was amended to allow Eparchs to serve multiple consecutive terms under unusual circumstances, e.g. war or crisis. On (Caseic Calendar: 380-8-12), the constitution was amended again to allow Eparchs to serve multiple terms, as long as they are non-consecutive.
The Eparchy of Chaba joined the Caseic Federation on (Caseic Calendar: 516-2-19).
Government
The head of state of Chaba is the Eparch of Chaba, who is elected every Caseic year through a convoluted process.
